NHS England has published this Prior Information Notice (PIN) in relation to securing a supplier to provide the provision of a unique surgical training opportunity for specialty doctors in training in the north east region. Designed to provide simulation and frozen cadaver-based surgical skills training and assessment to doctors in training to support the attainment of their curriculum requirements.
"Simulation training is an important aspect of training in a wide range of specialties at a variety of different stages. It is an important component of supported return to training and of step up training. Simulation training enables doctors to acquire surgical skills rapidly in a safe environment where patients are not put at risk.
We need to ensure we have continued provision of a unique surgical skills training for specialty doctors in training in the north east region. Training must be delivered in person and must cover delivery of a programme designed to provide simulation and frozen cadaver-based skills training and assessment to doctors in training and to support the attainment of their curriculum requirements.
This notice is issued to the market to understand suppliers that are able to deliver this specialised requirement across the north east. Suppliers must have previous experience of delivering a successful Surgical Skills Training Programme (SSTP) to specialty doctors in training which has the essential involvement and support of regional faculty working in all surgical specialties within local Trusts. The supplier must be able to provide relevant training to all grades of doctors. The supplier must be able to provide training in all the following specialties: core surgery, general surgery (hepatobiliary, colorectal, breast), vascular surgery, urology, ENT, orthopaedic surgery, paediatric surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, OMFS, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, and radiology. The supplier must have the ability to deliver training which utilises new technology as this becomes incorporated into surgical practice to allow future-proofing of the programme (e.g. robotic surgery).
To register an interest to this PIN please go to: http://health.atamis.co.uk. All communications will be conducted via Atamis. The portal can be accessed at any time of the day and it is free to register.
