Harpole Parish Council intends to provide additional off-road parking by extending the existing car park to accommodate approximately 50 additional vehicles.
Whilst the existing car park has a tarmac finish, for budget reasons we expect the new area to be gravel surface utilising a cellular paving system (Sudspave 40 or similar).(See Attachment 1)
Construction consists of:
-300mm deep compacted sub-base. Free draining Calss 805 DoT Type 3 or pipe drained Class 803 DoT Type 1
-Geotextile membrane
-bedding layer of porous aggregate
-Sudspave 40 (or similar) paver infilled with porous aggregate.
An option to provide white moulded parking bay line markers designed to slot into the cells is required.(see Attachment 2)
Car Park bays are 5,0m long x 2.9m wide. The roadway between the bays is 6m wide, to allow 2 way traffic flow, as shown in map in Attachment 3.
Soil Removal and levelling will be required within the car park area. Excess material to be moved off-site and disposed of.
Firmly fixed retaining concrete edging will be installed around the perimeter of the new car park.
There is an existing steel gate providing access to the field, and adjacent steel barrier will be relocated as in Attachment 4
A new steel barrier, 400m high, to match existing, will be installed between the new car park and the field (approx 0.4m in from the edge of the car park.
Harpole Playing Field is accessible to the public all year round, and measures will need to be taken to ensure the safety of users throughout the duration of the works.
Work also to be timed so as not to coincide with planned event 13-15th September.
Chosen contractor will need to provide method statements, risk assessments and copies of valid public liability insurance certificates.
