Carlingford Lough Regional Tourism Study Detailed description To undertake a strategic review of the current and future tourism opportunities that exist in the greater Carlingford Lough region incorporating the Cooley peninsula and Mourne/Gullion area in order to develop and showcase the region as the premier Activity Tourism Destination of Excellence on the island.
To involve extensive research into the existing services and facilities provision in the area, consider emerging markets and activities, visitor sentiment both regionally, nationally and internationally, and develop innovative and ambitious aspirations and objectives for the area.
The purpose of the commission is to identify and develop a range of capital interventions that will have the impacts required to deliver on the ambition for the area and ultimately strong propositions that could be successful in future calls for funding from Shared Island, Peace Plus and all other relevant funding bodies.
