Archaeological Archival Assistance Services Detailed description The National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage requires the services of an archaeologist with archival experience, to assess and archive NMS business records including current business records (NM) and historic business records (F94). These records are stored at the Cultural Resource Centre in Swords, though also in the Custom House and with an outside warehouse company. Initial work on National Monuments business records has revealed a requirement for significant input to bring this material into acceptable archival standards, involving assessment of material prior to filing and databasing including an assessment as to whether the files are in a appropriate condition for ordinary scanning or whether it requires professional scanning.
It will be the responsibility of the person appointed to carry out this work under the supervision of NMS Archive Unit personnel to archive standards.
The person appointed will be required to be flexible in terms of assigned duties, and to agree, subject to the approval of the Client on timescales set for each part of the job.
The Contractor will keep records in a manner to be agreed with the NMS Archive Unit.
This position will be primarily based in the Custom House Headquarters of the National Monuments Service, but the person appointed will be required to work from the State’s Cultural Resource Centre in Swords, County Dublin from time to time.
