Cork University Hospital, Wilton - Paediatric Inpatient Accommodation Ground Investigation Detailed description An intrusive ground investigation is proposed to inform the design and
construction of the Paediatric Inpatient Accommodation building, access
road, footpaths and associated services (sw and utilities), partial
construction of concrete yard and access road, retaining walls to road
and for concrete yard, demolition of existing structures/building.
The scheme will consist of the development of new inpatient bed
accommodation and associated services. The proposed 5-story building
will be required to connect to the existing Paediatrics building.
The proposed development is located within on the northern side of the
CUH campus, and is bounded by the UCC Dental Hospital to the west,
the catering building to the east and the current Paediatrics
accommodation to the south.
The ground investigation will comprise of boreholes, trial pits, plate load
testing, slit trenches, a soak-away and dynamic cone penetrometers
(DCP).
