Short description Scoping Paper in the area of food systems and food and nutrition security in Africa Detailed description Consultancy services are required to provide a scoping paper to inform Ireland’s potential multilateral engagement in Africa on the theme of food systems and food and nutrition security. The development of the scoping paper will be managed by the Embassy of Ireland in Ethiopia.
The Embassy of Ireland in Addis Ababa is accredited to South Sudan, Djibouti, the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). Therefore, the work of the Embassy incorporates a particular multilateral element, which to date has focused primarily on contributing to peace and security and the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda in Africa. While these issues remain a priority, the Embassy would like to explore other potential areas for multilateral engagement in Africa, particularly in the area of food systems and food and nutrition security.
It is envisaged that the scoping paper will inform Ireland’s multilateral engagement in this area with a key focus on Africa. Ireland has a particular interest in identifying potential opportunities to support normative and policy development, in synergy with Ireland’s expertise and HQ initiatives with regard to food systems and food and nutrition security. Ireland also has a key focus on gender equality and in this context also has a particular interest in addressing challenges for women in agriculture and challenges for women with regard to food and nutrition security more broadly.
